The Government has decided to lease the premises of the Jaffna Presidential Palace which began construction during the 2011-2015 administration, to the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT).
This decision was reached following a discussion chaired by Chief of Presidential Staff and Presidential Advisor on National Security Sagala Rathnayaka.
This Presidential palace complex situated in Kankesanthurai is located in a land of 29 acres, out of which 12 acres of building complexes.
The rest of the land was acquired from the people of the area and it has been decided to lease the 12 acres belonging to the Government to SLIIT institute in the initial phase.
It has also been decided to lease out the remaining 17 acres of land that was taken over from the people to the SLIIT institute on the basis of generating an income to the people.
Currently, this land is in the custody of Sri Lanka Navy and after signing the relevant lease agreement, the premises are to be released to the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology. (NewsWire)
