Cabinet nod for agreement between Virginia & Sri Lanka Port Authorities

Cabinet approval has been granted to sign the relevant agreement on the cooperation between the Virginia Ports Authority and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority for the mutual exchange of expertise.

The “Port and Prosperity Expertise Development Program” is jointly implemented by the US Embassy in Sri Lanka and the Colombo Plan, under which the two sides have agreed to enter into a cooperation agreement between the Port Authorities of Virginia and Sri Lanka for cooperation in the mutual exchange of expertise between ports. 

Entering into the proposed cooperation agreement is mainly expected to improve the professional capabilities of the executive staff of both parties. 

Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal presented by the Minister of Ports, Shipping and Aviation to sign the relevant cooperation agreement in this regard. (Newswire)
