Popular YouTuber Ashen Senaratne filed a case in the Supreme Court today, contesting the Election Commission’s decision to reject his independent group’s nomination. The Commission disqualified the group, stating the nomination papers were submitted by an unauthorized individual.
In a video posted on social media, Senaratne expressed frustration, saying he was present but asked to wait outside, leading another candidate to submit the papers. The Election Commission stated that nominations must be handed in by specific individuals, and failure to follow this rule results in disqualification.
The case is expected to be heard early next week. (NewsWire)
