Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa says the controversial licences issued for wine stores and liquor outlets recently will be cancelled under a Samagi Jana Balawegaya -led government.
MP Sajith Premadasa stressing the need for a temperance movement in the country, said that liquor licences will only be issued in a systematic manner, focused on the development of the tourism sector.
“I have continuously raised concerns in Parliament over the issuance of soft liquor licences for wine stores and bars. We vow to recall all of these licences by the end of this year,” he said.
Stating that alcohol, drugs and tobacco have invaded schools, MP Premadasa said that there will be no room for the promotion of these vices.
The Opposition leader made these remarks addressing an event at a school in Anuradhapura, calling on all parents to unite in the fight against alcohol, tobacco and drugs. (Newswire)
