President Ranil Wickremesinghe says cases were able to be filed only on 40 out of the 400-odd files shown by National Peoples Power (NPP) Leader MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake in the past.
Addressing a discussion at the Presidential Secretariat, the President said the files shown by MP Dissanayake consisted of only copies, while the original files were in his possession.
President Wickremesinghe further said that at the time, all 400 files were deliberated by the JVP, but its member Ananda Wijepala had filed cases only against 40 of those files.
Ananda Wijepala, a nominee of JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake, served as the Secretary of the Anti-Corruption Secretariat established under the 2015 Yahapalana Government.
“Cases were only filed against 40 out of the 400 files. The remaining 360 files are empty. So it is pointless showing all the files, they should have only spoken about the 40 files,” the President said. (Newswire)
