Today, the Health Ministry initiated the Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) Supplementary Immunization Activity across nine high-risk health districts (Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Jaffna, Kurunegala, and Kalmunai)

Conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the program targets children born between April 7, 2023, and July 5, 2023, with a focus on administering an additional measles vaccination dose to infants aged 6 to 9 months.

This initiative, led by the Epidemiology Unit, addresses a rise in measles cases over the past year. The second phase, covering other age groups nationwide, is set to begin on January 20. (NewsWire)
