The first batch of Sri Lankans hired for agricultural jobs in Israel have arrived in the country.
A group of thirty (30) Sri Lankans left for Israel on Monday (Dec 18) as part of the bilateral agreement between Sri Lanka and Israel on job opportunities.
As per the bilateral agreement between the two nations, 10,000 Sri Lankans are to be sent to Israel in the next few weeks.
Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara has emphasized that there is no need to pay money to any party for these jobs.
He further warned that if it is discovered after going abroad that someone has paid money to obtain these job opportunities, they will be brought back.
Minister Nanayakkara added that both governments have reached an agreement on repatriating those who have paid money for the jobs. (NewsWire)
