The body of a 15-year-old school girl who was reported missing from her house last night has been found from the Despod waterfall in Nanu-Oya.
The girl has been identified as a grade 10 student of a school in Nanu-Oya and a resident of the lower division of the Despod Estate in Nanu-Oya.
The girl, who is the second child in the family, had reportedly gone to sleep at 10.00 p.m. yesterday, and was found missing by her parents at around 02.30 a.m. following which along with other residents they had commenced a search operation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the child had informed her parents of attending an extra class after school, but it was later found that she had not attended the class.
The Police said the Nuwara- Eliya Magistrate had conducted the magisterial inquiry on the body at the location, following which it was transferred to the Nuwara-Eliya General Hospital for the postmortem examination. (NewsWire)
