A tense situation has been reported in Parliament today after the Government and Opposition MPs engaged in a heated exchange over the debate scheduled on the report by the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe incidents of political victimisation.
The Opposition had initially requested the speaker to allow their side to commence the debate scheduled for tomorrow and the day after, following which a heated exchange ensued.
A heated argument ensued between MP Lakshman Kiriella, Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, and MP Rauf Hakeem.
The event led to Parliament being adjourned for a few minutes, as Parliamentarians from the ruling and opposition parties were engaged in a protest. (NewsWire)
