Sri Lankan journalist Thilakshani Maduwanthi has revealed the harrowing situation of Covid patients at the Colombo South Teaching Hospital in Kalubowila.
Photographs published by the journalist from News First show Covid patients sleeping outside in the garden area around 1.20 am.
She further revealed that two or three patients were kept on a single bed in the wards of the hospital.
Another group of people were laid on mats on the floor and were provided with oxygen, Maduwanthi said.
Several individuals have collapsed, while two people had died while being in the outdoor area of the hospital among other patients.
The journalist said the hospital had run out of capacity to treat Covid patients while more infected people were standing in line to obtain admission to the hospital for treatment.
She called on the general public to strictly adhere to the health guidelines, adding that Sri Lanka was heading towards a similar situation that was reported in India earlier. (NewsWire)
