The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) says that places of religious worship in the country will be provided with a relief in electricity tariff.
PUCSL chairman Janaka Rathnayake has said that religious places that consume over 180 units per month would be brought under the General Purpose category.
He further added that the electricity tariff applicable for religious places would be Rs.32/- per unit with effect from 10th August 2022.
Following the latest electricity tariff revision in August, a tariff of Rs. 65/- per unit had been imposed to religious places that consume more than 180 units per month.
Janaka Rathnayake further said that this change will reduce the electricity bill of religious places which have a consumption of more than 180 units by more than half. (NewsWire)
