A significant improvement has been noted in tourist arrivals during the first half of October, with over 20,000 tourists visiting Sri Lanka.
According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, a total of 20,573 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka from 01st – 16th October 2022.
As per data on weekly arrivals, 8,614 tourists arrived between the 1st – 7th of October, 9,125 tourists arrived between the 08th – 14th of October, and 2,834 tourists arrived on the 15th and 16th of October.
India maintains its position as the largest source market for Sri Lanka tourism for October accounting for 20 percent of the total arrivals, followed by Russia with 14 percent, and the UK with 10%.
Even though Sri Lanka is targeting closing the year with one million tourists, the Tourism Ministry believes it is very likely for the year to end with about 800,000 visitors. (NewsWire)
