State Minister’s vehicle accident : Victim succumbs to injuries

An individual who was seriously injured after being allegedly knocked down by State Minister Sanath Nishantha’s vehicle in Puttalam succumbed to injuries on Sunday (30).

The victim, who is a father of two, had been knocked down by the State Minister’s vehicle on 15th October.

The 48-year-old resident of Mullipuram fishing village has succumbed to injuries after a period of 15 days at the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital.

Earlier, it was reported that the State Minister’s vehicle had crashed into the victim while he was riding a bicycle on the Puttalam – Kurunegala road.

The victim was initially admitted to the Puttalam Hospital but was later transferred to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital as his health condition had deteriorated.

The driver of the State Minister’s vehicle had been arrested and released on bail while the vehicle had also been taken into Police custody. 

The Puttalam Police said it is set to initiate action against the driver of the vehicle following the death of the victim. (NewsWire)
