The Department of Immigration and Emigration has announced that the system failure faced yesterday has been rectified and passport services have resumed.
The Department said that thereby, passport applications will be accepted as per usual from today (09).
Passport services were temporarily suspended yesterday after a breakdown in the department’s computer system.
The department said at the time, that the issuing of passports has been suspended at its main office in Battaramulla and all regional offices islandwide and that applications will not be accepted until further notice.
However, following the issue being rectified, the Department of Immigration and Emigration said the system has returned to normal and passport services have resumed. (NewsWire)
