Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe has ordered the Sports Director General to call for a report on the non-inclusion of Chamika Karunaratne to the Sri Lanka ODI squad playing Afghanistan.
The Afghanistan team arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday ahead of the ODI series that will commence in Pallekele, Kandy on Friday (25).
Earlier today, it was reported that Sri Lanka’s squad for the Afghanistan ODI series has not yet been approved by the Sports Minister.
Sports Ministry sources said the approval has not yet been granted due to several complaints received over many questionable selections including the axing of all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne.
Although his form in the T20I World Cup was a concern, Chamika Karunarathne won two man-of-the-match performances when Sri Lanka last played an ODI series against Australia in June.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s selected squad is currently in Pallekele and will continue with its practice sessions. (NewsWire)
