The National Dengue Control Unit says a total of 1,602 dengue patients were reported last week alone in Sri Lanka.
The Unit warned that there was a significant increase in the spread of the dengue virus across the country at present.
Among the dengue cases detected last week, the highest number of patients (390) were detected in the Gampaha district, while 272 dengue patients were reported from the Colombo district.
The National Dengue Control Unit said that an increase in dengue patients was also reported in the Jaffna, Kalmunai, and Puttalam districts last week.
A total of 68,928 dengue patients have been reported in Sri Lanka so far this year, a significant increase in comparison to the 27,844 patients that were detected in 2021.
The National Dengue Control Unit has also declared 41 MOH Divisions in Sri Lanka as high-risk zones for dengue. (NewsWire)
