The air quality in Sri Lanka has improved due to the direction of the winds from India changing course, the Director of the Environmental Division of the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) Sarath Premasiri said today.
Premasiri said that the air quality had been recorded between the levels of 150-200 yesterday, but has drastically improved as of today.
Even though the air quality has seen an improvement today, Premasiri requested the public to wear face masks when venturing outdoors.
The Ministry of Environment also confirmed that the air quality of Sri Lanka has significantly improved today.
Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe warned that however, the air quality shows a significant presence of dust and requested the public to be vigilant in this regard.
Stating that good air quality will show levels between 0-50, Dr, Jasinghe requested the public to take necessary health precautions until such levels are recorded.
He specifically advised people with respiratory illnesses, pregnant women, and others too to remain vigilant. (NewsWire)
