The Supreme Court has issued notice to a group, including former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, to report to the court on 22nd December to present facts on the attack on anti-government protesters on 09th May 2022.
Former Sports Minister Namal Rajapaksa, Ministers Sanath Nishantha and Prasanna Ranatunga, and Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police (SDIG) Deshabandu Tennakoon are also among those to whom the notice has been issued.
According to Lankadeepa, the notice was issued after a Fundamental Rights (FR) petition filed by five people who were involved in the “GotaGoGama’ campaign was taken up for consideration today.
The FR petition was taken up for hearing by Supreme Court Justices Vijith Malalgoda and Janath de Silva today. (NewsWire)
