The 105 Myanmar nationals who were taken into custody after the boat transporting them was intercepted off the Northern coast of Sri Lanka are to be produced in court today.
The Police said that the boat that was illegally transporting this group of people had been taken into custody on charges of having illegally entered and stationed in Sri Lankan waters.
The Sri Lanka Navy had taken into custody the boat along with the people onboard on Saturday night (17) and handed them over to the Kankesanthurai Police.
The apprehended group consists of 105 Myanmar nationals, including women and children.
The Police said the group will be produced before the Mallakam Magistrate’s Court today. The Kankesanthurai Police is conducting further investigations. (NewsWire)
