The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to introduce three types of Visas for investors of the Colombo Port City, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said on Tuesday (20).
Speaking during the weekly post-Cabinet media briefing today, Minister Gunawardena said the new Visa types were recommended by the Colombo Port City Economic Commission.
He said thereby, the issuance of VISA and fulfilling other relevant activities to the investors and other relevant parties expected to arrive for various services such as international trade, navel and monitoring, financial, information technology and tourism etc. that is expected to be established in the Colombo Port City should be done by the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
Minister Gunawardena said that the Cabinet granted approval to the proposal presented by the Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles to take necessary steps to introduce the following VISA categories:
- ‘Investment VISA’ category for investors under the residential VISA category.
- ‘Employment VISA’ for employees.
- ‘CPC residential property lease vendor’ VISA category for foreigners who reside within the Colombo Port City on lease. (NewsWire)
