The Urban Development and Housing Ministry says the construction of five housing projects for artistes and low-income families will commence at the beginning of this year.
According to the Daily News, the ministry said that 1,996 housing units will be constructed under the five housing projects.
Under the housing project, 1,888 houses will be constructed for low-income families and 108 houses for artistes.
The houses for low-income families will be constructed in Peliyagoda, Maharagama, Moratuwa and Dematagoda and the houses for artistes will be located in Kottawa.
The Ministry said that these houses will be constructed under a Yuan 552 million Chinese loan, agreed on January 9, 2022.
The Minister of Urban Development and Housing Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed the UDA to continue the housing projects which began construction last year.
House construction plans have been made by the UDA and a copy of the agreement related to the implementation of this project has been given to the UDA.
Accordingly, the proposals of the UDA and the Ministry of Finance have been forwarded to the company appointed for this program by the Chinese government last November. (NewsWire)
