Two youths from Mawanella are reported to have been killed and buried behind a house in Hurimaluwa, Rambukkana over a drug deal issue, Police investigations have revealed.
According to the Daily News, the two individuals aged 28 and 26 are residents of the Kiringadeniya and Keraminiya areas of Mawanella and are reported to have been missing since the 18th and 25th of November 2022.
The parents of the missing men had filed a complaint with the Police on 7th December 2022.
Police had received information that the two individuals were purchasing drugs from a person residing in the Hurimaluwa area in Rambukkana.
Police believe that the two individuals were murdered on the suspicioun that they were Police informants.
The Mawanella Police and Kegalle Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau had conducted joint investigations and had found the house, after which they reported facts to the Kegalle Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (11).
Preliminary investigations were initiated following a visit to the said house by Kegalle Magistrate Vasana Navaratne yesterday (12).
Investigations have revealed that the two youths had been murdered and buried under the chicken coop which was located behind the house in Rambukkana.
The Police had exhumed the two bodies and sent them to the Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) for further investigations.
The Police say that the main suspect has fled the area.(NewsWire)
