The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) has urged the authorities to refrain from imposing power cuts during the 2022 GCE Advanced Level Examinations.
Issuing a statement, the HRCSL stated that it has written to the Secretary of the Ministry of Power and Energy and the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) in this regard.
The HRCSL further stated that it has requested the Power and Energy Ministry and the PUCSL to instruct the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to refrain from scheduling power cuts at any time during the examinations.
The 2022 GCE Advanced Level Examinations commenced today (23) and will continue until 17th February 2023.
Calling on the authorities to refrain from scheduling power cuts during this period, the HRCSL stated that this will enable the students preparing for the examination to exercise their right to education unobstructed. (NewsWire)
