The Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) reported a surplus of Rs. 3 billion in 2022, Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara said on Monday (23).
In a Twitter message, the minister said the amount was handed over to President Ranil Wickremesinghe and will be utilized for various purposes, including fuel, medicine, and Samurdhi benefits.
Minister Nanayakkara further said that from the amount, Rs. 100 million was handed over to the Cancer Hospital and Rs. 500 million was contributed for the purchase of local medicines.
Stating that the SLBFE has contributed only Rs. 3.8 billion in its history, the minister pointed out that the surplus reported in 2022 is the single largest contribution ever made by the institution.
Minister Manusha Nanayakkara further thanked Sri Lankan migrant workers for helping make this a possibility. (NewsWire)
