On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Independence Day of Sri Lanka, a flag hoisting ceremony was held at Harmony Square in Dandenong, the state of Victoria, Australia.
During the ceremony held at Harmony Square, the flag was hoisted by Cr Eden Foster, the mayoress of the City of Greater Dandenong.
After the flag hoisting, the national anthem of Sri Lanka was played. Mayoress Eden Foster also addressed the gathering during the ceremony.
The City of Greater Dandenong is located in Melbourne’s southeast and is made up of 10 suburbs. Greater Dandenong is one of Melbourne’s most multicultural areas with residents from over 150 birthplaces. Sri Lankans are the 4th largest ethnic group in the City of Greater Dandenong.
