The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) has organized a 24-hour strike action from 08.00 am tomorrow.
Media Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Chamil Weerasinghe said that the trade union action will continue till 08.00 am on Thursday (09).
Thereby, members of the GMOA at both state and private hospitals will withdraw from their duties during the strike action.
However, essential medical services, such as emergency, kidney, and children services will continue uninterrupted.
GMOA Media Secretary Dr. Chamil Weerasinghe said that the strike action is being organized against the government’s new tax policy and the failure of authorities to address the shortage of medicines in the country.
Several trade unions of other essential services, such as electricity, water, and ports will also join tomorrow’s trade union action. (NewsWire)
