A massive rescue operation is underway to save a group of pilot whales that had beached on the shores of Kalpitiya.
According to reports, three pilot whales are reported to have died, while 11 are stranded.
Area residents together with the Sri Lanka Navy, Police, and Wildlife officials are attempting to help send the stranded pilot whales back to the sea. (NewsWire)
