The Court of Appeal will announce its decision on 17th February 2023 on whether or not to take up for hearing the petition filed seeking an order to suspend the decision taken by the Cabinet of Ministers to increase electricity tariffs.
The petition was filed by the Electricity Consumers Association and the Centre for Environmental Justice.
It was summoned for a hearing before the Appeal Court bench consisting of Judges Shobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola today.
The Deputy Solicitor General, representing the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and the respondents presented the Cabinet decision to the Judges.
After perusing the document, the Judges stated that the verdict on whether or not to take up for hearing the said petition will be announced on 17th February 2023.
