The prices of products that have increased due to a high dollar rate will see a significant drop as soon as Sri Lanka receives financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), former Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage claimed.
MP Aluthgamage also stated that Sri Lanka will receive financial assistance from the IMF soon.
He made the remarks while addressing a public gathering assuring the victory of the United National Party (UNP) contestants who are representing the Nawalapitiya Municipal Council in the upcoming local government polls.
Stating that members from both the UNP and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) have been fielded for the polls from Nawalapitiya, the MP stated that the contestants will secure the power of the Nawalapitiya MC on 10th March 2023.
MP Mahindananda Aluthgamage stated that the local government polls cannot change a government, adding that the incumbent government will remain in power for the next 2 ½ years and will fulfil all the promises made to the public.
The former minister further said that the prices of several essential food items have already dropped and that the cost of living will also further drop by April this year. (NewsWire)
