Two elderly men have died and two others have sustained injuries in a motor accident reported on the Southern Expressway last night (14).
The Police stated that the driver of a lorry travelling from Pinnaduwa to Kottawa had stopped the vehicle by the side of the road due to a technical fault.
A car travelling in the same direction had collided with the lorry from behind, injuring the four passengers in the car.
The driver of the car, his father, uncle, and aunt who had sustained injuries in the accident were admitted to the Nagoda Hospital, during which the father and uncle succumbed to injuries.
The deceased individuals have been identified as residents of the Thirukovil area, aged 70 and 75 years.
The Expressway Police are conducting investigations into the accident that occurred at the 35.9 R KM post on the Southern Expressway. (NewsWire)
