Former Sri Lanka Sports Minister Bandula Basnayake passed away while receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital this morning (16).
Bandula Basnayake passed away while receiving treatment for an illness for some time at the hospital.
The former Sports Minister was 76 at the time of his demise today.
Bandula Basnayake who entered politics in the 1980s served as a Member of Parliament from the Kurunegala District from 1994-2000.
Between 2004-2010, the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP also served as the Deputy Minister of Environment and Irrigation, while he also served as the non-Cabinet Minister of Sports.
