A 17-year-old boy has died in a motor accident reported in the Thumpeliya area along the Weligampitiya- Ganemulla Road in Kandana last evening.
The Police stated that the boy who was riding a motorcycle had skidded and fallen trying to avoid a car plying in the opposite direction.
Investigations have revealed that the car was found to be travelling cutting into the road lane in the opposite direction prompting the motorcyclist to suddenly break resulting in him skidding and crashing onto the right side of the car.
The motorcyclist who had sustained serious injuries in the accident had died after being admitted to the Ja Ela Hospital.
The deceased is a 17-year-old boy from the Kapuwatte area. The driver of the car has been arrested for reckless driving.
