New international bird park and eco-tourism zone established in Hanthana, Kandy will be opened tomorrow (20) by President Ranil Wickremesinghe
The Hantana International Bird Park and Recreation Center will be opened at 03:00 pm tomorrow, however it will be open to the public from the 23rd February.
Located adjacent to the Hantana Tea Museum premises, this 27-acre exotic bird park and eco-tourism zone is home to over a hundred species of exotic birds.
Its chairman Nishantha Kottegoda said the park consists of birds endemic to foreign countries, migratory birds also has a unit that treats and releases injured birds.
Built at a cost of 490 million rupees, birds are housed in large cages in this foreign bird park. Almost 100 people are employed at this park to take care of the birds, he further said. (NewsWire)
