Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Dr. Harsha de Silva has accused the Communications Department of Parliament of refusing to officially announce his appointment as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance.
In a Twitter message, the opposition MP stated that the Communications Department of Parliament was providing various excuses and not issuing the relevant official statement on the appointment.
“Communications department of @ParliamentLK is not issuing the statement of my appointment as Chair of CoPF. Giving various excuses. Who has the power to change the decision of @ParliamentLK? For whose benefit? This will have to be settled in the morning. Sick,” the SJB MP added.
His remarks come after the MP had earlier today Tweeted announcing his appointment as the Chairman of the Committee on Public Finance.
Announcing his reappointment, the SJB MP said the Opposition stood firm to defeat the government’s move to replace him as Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Public Finance.
“Despicable how some members of the committee of selection tried to create division in the Opposition. I am looking forward to once again discharging my responsibility for Sri Lanka,” he said in an earlier Twitter message.
MP Harsha de Silva further extended his gratitude to Leader of the Opposition MP Sajith Premadasa and the Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella for supporting his candidacy.
“Also thank you to Speaker @YapaMahinda for endorsing my name without hesitation,” he added. (NewsWire)
