The Department of Meteorology says showers are expected in several parts of Sri Lanka today.
Several spells of light showers are expected in the Eastern and Uva provinces and in the Polonnaruwa and Matale districts.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Sabaragamuwa Province and in the Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon or night.
Meanwhile, several spells of showers are expected in the sea area off the coast extending from Hambanthota to Batticaloa via Pottuvil.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places over the sea areas extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle in the evening or night.
Winds will be north-easterly and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. Wind speed may increase up to 40 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Colombo via Puttalam and from Hambantota to Pottuvil.

The Met Department added that temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers. (NewsWire)
