A woman has been arrested and produced in court for running over and killing two puppies on a main road recently.
Video footage of the incident had been circulated on social media, while animal organizations sought the assistance of the public to identify the suspect.
Animal organizations had identified the vehicle number plate after which they had filed a complaint with the Police over the incident.
Investigations had led to the Mathurata Police arresting a female driver and producing her in court.
The woman had pleaded guilty to the offence after which she was released on a surety of Rs. 100,000.
The case has been fixed for hearing on 1st June 2023. (NewsWire)
