Five suspects have been arrested for breaking and entering the Indian visa application centre, IVS Pvt. Ltd in Colombo last week.
The Police stated that the suspects included a woman, who is part of the cleaning staff at the Indian visa application centre, her paramour and three others.
The Police had seized several stolen items, including a laptop, a mobile phone, a tablet PC and a digital video recorder (DVR) from the suspects’ possession.
Investigations have revealed that the stolen laptop belongs to the chief local agent of the visa application centre, while parts of the DVR were found discarded near a canal in Kirulapone.
Three of the suspects who had arrived in a three-wheeler had broken into the Indian visa application centre on Wednesday (15).
The Police stated that they had left with the stolen items as their attempts to steal money had failed.
Soon after the incident, the Indian visa application centre announced that it would remain closed due to a security breach. However, the centre recommenced operations 5 days later. (NewsWire)
