A meeting on the restructuring of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) with the assistance of Development Agencies was held yesterday (23), Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said on Friday.
Heads and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), World Bank, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), International Finance Corporation (IFC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Department Of External Resources (ERD), Department of National Planning (NPD), and members of the reforms committee participated in the meeting.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that a request was made for technical and financial assistance from the development agencies to obtain services from international and domestic experts in the energy, finance, and legal fields.
The assistance will be utilised to fulfil the objectives of the unbundling process, energy and financial audits, Human Resources management PPP models, legal drafting, research work, integrating renewable energy, carbon credits, communication platform and other work related to reforms and integrating renewable energy, he said.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera added that a reforms office will be opened at the Ministry of Power and Energy to see through the transformation. (NewsWire)
