An incident has been reported where a woman had allegedly pushed her 1 1/2 year old daughter into a shrimp tank following an argument with her husband.
Police say that the woman is the wife of a Laborer working at a Shrimp farm in the Kattakaduwa area in Udappuwa and she has done this as a means of taking revenge against her husband.
The child is being treated at the Intensive care unit of the Kurunegala Hospital. The child’s condition is getting better as per hospital sources, the police further said.
The 20-year-old mother who allegedly pushed the girl into the shrimp breeding tank was arrested by the Udappuwa police on suspicion.
The suspect had first told the police that the girl had fallen into the tank, but a senior police officer had told the Lankadeepa that when examining CCTV from the shrimp farm, it is clearly seen that the suspect is holding her daughter by the hand and pushing her into the tank.
A laborer had saved the child after seeing the child struggling inside the shrimp tank. The child is currently receiving treatment at hospital and out of life danger. (NewsWire)
