The Borella Police have started an investigation regarding the disappearance of nearly Rs. 700,000 worth of gold jewelery from the official residence media spokesperson of Department of Prisons, Chandana Ekanayake.
The official residence of the media spokesperson is located within Borella Magazine Prison complex and it is reported that the official residence is cleaned by the prison inmates.
The Police further said that the residents have not checked on the gold jewelry in the house since last November. The prisons spokesperson’s wife has made a complaint to the Borella after realizing that the gold jewelery had gone missing.
The police say that a large number of prisoners have cleaned the official residence of the media spokesperson since November last year, so a comprehensive investigation should be carried out. (NewsWire)
