The Ministry of Energy has announced changes to the National Fuel Pass QR system.
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that the National Fuel Pass QR quota will be topped up weekly, every Tuesday.
In a Twitter message, the Minister stated that the change will come into effect from midnight today (08).
Minister Wijesekera further stated that thereby, all accounts have been topped up this morning.
The decision was taken to reduce the cost of distribution attributed to operating the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) on weekends, he added.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera further stated that, however, fuel quotas will remain unchanged.
The National Fuel Pass QR system was introduced in 2022 to mitigate the fuel crisis faced by Sri Lanka. (NewsWire)
