COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – MICE EXPO 2023, organized by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau and Sri Lankan Airlines, kicked off today at the Shangri-La hotel in Colombo. The multi-day event aims to position Sri Lanka as a leading destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism in South Asia.
With over 100 buyers from India, the Middle East, and South East Asia in attendance, the event showcases Sri Lanka’s stunning natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and modern infrastructure as an ideal location for companies and organizations looking to host events, meetings, and conferences in a professional, yet exotic and vibrant setting.
“This event is a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s tourism industry, as it will provide a platform for a large number of exhibitors to showcase their offerings to a global audience,” said Thisum Jayasuriya, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.
The MICE Business Forum, hosted at the Galle face hotel, will provide an excellent opportunity for business networking, while MICE EXPO will showcase 22 exhibitors and 75 local vendors from Sri Lanka.

We are confident that MICE EXPO 2023 will be an exciting event that will help position Sri Lanka as a hub for MICE tourism in South Asia,” added Krishantha Fernando, General Manager of the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.
Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism and lands, inaugurated the event, which commenced with a welcome reception and MICE forum on the 13th of March 2023, followed by the opening ceremony on the 14th.
Buyers will have the opportunity to explore the city and other locations around the country, hosted by the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, allowing them to experience Sri Lanka’s MICE facilities first-hand, in order to familiarize themselves with the island for potential future investments.
