WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service has released a major update to its desktop app, which now officially supports message flow even if the primary phone is switched off.
Users can now connect up to four devices to a single WhatsApp account, and all devices will continue to work independently even if there is no internet connectivity on the primary device.
The new WhatsApp app for Windows also supports features like group video and audio calls with up to 8 people on a video call and up to 32 people on audio calls, all with end-to-end encryption.
If you are a Windows PC user, WhatsApp has now released a brand new app: https://whatsapp.com/download
Despite having a similar UI, the app is said to be optimised for offering an improved chatting experience across connected devices. Users can download the WhatsApp app for windows for free via the Microsoft store and experience the new multi-device connectivity feature on WhatsApp.
Do note that this feature has been available for quite a while in the beta phase and currently, the stable version is only live for the Windows platform. Users who want to use a single WhatsApp account on two smartphones (iPhone primary, Android secondary) (Android primary, Android secondary) need to follow an unofficial process.
However, as of now, there is no way to use an iPhone as a secondary device, and it can only be done on an Android smartphone. (Indian Express)
