Fuel distribution commenced at the Kollonnawa and Muthurajawela terminals at 6.00 am today, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said on Wednesday (29).
The minister said via a Twitter message that the Police and armed forces will continue to assist the distribution of fuel.
“Adequate fuel stocks are available in the country. It has been noticed that some fuel stations have not placed orders anticipating the April price revision,” he revealed.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera further requested the fuel station operators to place their orders accordingly and maintain the minimum stocks required.
The announcement comes after the public was requested yesterday not to panic over fuel supply shortages.
Minister Kanchana Wijesekera had yesterday revealed that there was a delay in fuel distribution due to trade unionists preventing employees from attending to their duties.
Stating that the situation has been normalized, he said the Police and armed forces are providing security at the terminals and for distribution, while assuring there were adequate stocks of fuel. (NewsWire)
