Four suspects have been arrested on charges of having physically assaulted a group of new students at the hostel of the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka during an event organized illegally for ragging.
The Police stated that the suspects had forcibly entered the university hostel and physically assaulted the students on 15th February 2023.
The suspects were arrested yesterday (29) in the Balangoda area by officials from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and were handed over to the Balangoda Police.
The Police stated that the suspects are aged between 23 and 25 years and are residents of Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Ambalangoda, and Welimada.
The suspects have been released on sureties after being produced before the Balangoda Magistrate’s Court yesterday. The CID is conducting investigations into the incident. (NewsWire)
