The Department of Meteorology says there will be showers in a few areas in Sri Lanka today.
Showers or thundershowers are expected at a few places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces during the afternoon or night.
Showers or thundershowers are also expected in the Anuradhapura, Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts during the afternoon or night.
The public must take adequate precautions to minimise damages caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Matara via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle during the night.
Winds will be South-easterly or variable in direction and wind speed will be 20-30 kmph. The sea areas around the island will be slight. (NewsWire)
