The approval of the Cabinet of Ministers has been received for six important initiatives, Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera revealed.
Minister Wijesekera said in a Twitter message, that Cabinet approval was obtained on Monday (27) for the following key initiatives:
- Retail Licences are to be granted to China’s Sinopec, Australia’s United Petroleum, and RM Parks of USA with Britain’s Shell PLC to operate 150 CPC dealer-operated Fuel Stations each.
- Award contract for electricity Smart Metering for the Dehiwala area.
- Commence work on the 1st phase of the 135MW Solar park in Sampur with India’s National Thermal Power Corporation.
- Conduct an Asian Development Bank (ADB)-funded feasibility study for Pump Storage.
- To sign the MOU for Renewable Energy Cooperation with India.
- Gas turbines for Kelanitissa Power Plant for LNG. (NewsWire)
