Airport and Aviation Services Lanka Ltd has refuted the viral video circulating on social media platforms of a passenger’s newly purchased mobile phone being reported missing from his luggage.
The AASL said the incident had been widely reported by a local television channel claiming that the passenger’s mobile phone which was inside the luggage had been stolen upon arrival at the Katunayake airport.
The AASL stated that CCTV footage at the Katunayake airport has proven that no such incident had occurred.
The Katunayake airport authorities had been informed by authorities at one of the airports used by the passenger as a transit point that the said mobile phone had been confiscated due to security reasons, the AASL further stated.
The Airport and Aviation Services Lanka Ltd (AASL) added that it was regrettable to see media reporting incidents without verifying the details. (NewsWire)
