A fatal collision occurred between a truck and a hand tractor in the Walekade area, along the Polonnaruwa-Onegama road yesterday.
The accident resulted in the tragic deaths of two women, while seven other individuals sustained injuries.
Among the injured, two young boys are in critical condition and are receiving urgent medical attention.
According to the authorities, the driver of the truck was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident, which likely contributed to the collision.
The police have arrested the driver.
