An individual who had impersonated the Coordinating Secretary of the Public Security Minister and had verbally abused and threatened an official of the Public Security Ministry via a telephone call has been arrested.
The Police stated that the incident had occurred on Tuesday (18), and the Criminal Investigations Department had arrested the suspect in the Kottaramulla area in Chillaw the following day based on a complaint.
The suspect has been identified as a 37-year-old resident of the Upper Kottaramulla area.
Investigating officers suspect that the man may have impersonated the Public Security Minister Coordinating Secretary and verbally abused various Police officers on previous occasions.
The suspect who was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court yesterday (20) had pleaded guilty after which he was released on a surety of Rs. 100,000. (NewsWire)
